This vibrant, colourful and quirky exhibition from the National Archives of Australia is guest curated by Lee Lin Chin, SBS TV World News Australia presenter and host of Fashionista. She gives her unique insight and idiosyncratic commentary on an exhibition that explores not only the fashion of the 1960s and ‘70s but also the social and cultural changes that occurred in those dynamic decades.

Cairns Indigenous Art Fair

Max Dupain On Assignment

Max Dupain (1911-1992) is widely considered one of Australia’s greatest photographers. This exhibition showcases the diversity and longevity of Dupain’s commercial career, tracing his development as a photographer and artist from the 1940’s to the 1970’s.

Due North: Landscapes From The Collection

A celebration of the achievements of a select and diverse group of artists who have been inspired to interpret the landscape of tropical North Queensland. Their work has captured the essence of the Far North, a region often on the periphery of our concept of the archetypal Australian landscape.

PRESSED INK: PRINTMAKING FROM THE CAIRNS REGIONAL GALLERY COLLECTION

Pressed Ink explores printmaking from the Cairns Regional Gallery collection to highlight the numerous methods artists use to make unique multiple versions of their designs. Recognisable processes like etching and linocut are examined alongside the commercially perceived screen-printing and those, like engraving, that are all but forgotten.

The Gallipoli Series: Sidney Nolan
10 December 2010 - 6 February 2011

Throughout his artistic career, Sidney Nolan returned intermittently to the theme of Gallipoli. This series, begun in 1956 is a fitting tribute to his brother’s premature death within the broader context of Australia’s military history. This exhibition is supported by Visions of Australia, an Australian Government Program supporting touring exhibitions by providing funding assistance for the development and touring of Australian cultural material across Australia.

Connecting With Country...Connecting With Community: The Lockhart River Art Gang

An exhibition of works by the Lockhart River Art Gang including Rosella Namok, Samantha and Silas Hobson, Fiona Omeenyo, Sammy Clarmont, Evelyn Sandy and Terry and Leroy Platt. These vibrant contemporary works are inspired by the beauty of the Eastern Cape region and traditional beliefs, with darker references to the violence, social and health problems experienced by many Aboriginal peoples in isolated communities.

Frame By Frame: Asia Pacific Artists On Tour

This exhibition will showcase the work of 10-12 major contemporary Asian and Pacific artists from the Queensland Arts Gallery’s Collection and comprises works from previous Asia Pacific Triennials. Ocean to Outback: Australian landscape paintings 1850-1950

This exhibition documents the most dynamic century of landscape painting from the colonial 1850’s to the immediate period following World War II. Over this century, landscape painting was the "great" subject of Australian art. This fascination and love of the Australian landscape continues to this day.

Art Bank 25 years

Artbank, the Australian Government art rental initiative, is at the forefront of collecting contemporary art and craft from Australia’s emerging and established Indigenous and non-Indigenous artists. Celebrating 25 years this exhibition features artworks acquired each year of its operation including photography, sculpture, paintings, glass and Indigenous artworks.

Likeness: Portraiture from the Collection
