GALLERY BOARDROOM

Cairns Regional Gallery’s stunning boardroom is ideal for meetings, small gatherings and forums. The room is panelled with walnut and was originally the Government Tourist Bureau. The magnificent boardroom table was designed and built by Queensland artists Russell Milledge and Gregory Gilmour. The table surface is divided into quadrants of silver beige Chillagoe marble (3/4 tonne) and silky oak veneer. It is five metres long and comfortably seats 14 people.

EDUCATION ROOM

The function/education room is perfect for seminars, lectures, workshops, film screenings openings and gatherings. The French doors open onto the wide front balcony, where guests can meet and mingle under ceiling fans in the relaxed, balmy atmosphere that typifies the tropical north, framed by the Gallery’s magnificent iconic columns. Facilities include Overhead Projector & Screen, Video & Television, Slide Projector, Stereo System, Lectern & Microphone, Coffee/tea facilities and Bar facilities.

Capacity: 70 guests (200 including front balcony) with temporary seating for 45.
THE PUBLIC CURATOR’S GALLERY

Originally the Public Curator’s office, this Gallery has a magnificent Chillagoe marble floor and stately columns. The timber blinds on the surrounding enclosed balconies create a modern, tropical ambience in this grand and unique space. Fabulous acoustics make the Public Curator’s Gallery ideal for musical recitals or book readings. Imagine a truly romantic wedding in this stately and historic space.

LADY NORMAN GALLERY

Located on the ground floor, is panelled with maple timber and has a silver ash and Johnson River hardwood and Spotted Gum floor.

Capacity: 100 guests with temporary seating for 60.
THE IRELAND FAMILY ACCESS GALLERY AND NICHE

The ‘Access’ Gallery is adjacent to the Public Curator’s Gallery, and also has floors of Chillagoe marble. It is perfect for cocktail receptions, presentations or lectures, as it offers easy access to the facilities of the education room. The Niche was designed as a blank white cube for contemporary artists to create site-specific works, and works which explore the use of technology. The Niche offers a fascinating temporary environment for your guests to enter and explore.

THE LOFT GALLERY

The Loft Gallery showcases the work of Tropical North Queensland’s talented local artists. Its exposed beams and sloped roof capitalise on the heritage flavour of Cairns Regional Gallery. This modern, carpeted room is ideal for receptions and soirees and is also the perfect location for launches or presentations.

THE GALLERY EXHIBITION SPACE

Cairns Regional Gallery presents changing exhibitions by local, national and international artists. Some exhibitions require that no food or beverage be consumed in the immediate vicinity of the artworks. In these instances, functions involving catering may not be held in the exhibition spaces. Cairns Regional Gallery is a public gallery. Functions cannot be held in the exhibition space during the operating hours of the gallery.
Gallery staff are on hand during Gallery hours to assist with any special requirements you may have in regards to set-up for a function. Gallery staff assistance for event set up or pack down may not be available.
If your function is being held outside of Gallery hours, special requirements must be made known to Gallery staff at least seven (7) days prior to your function to allow sufficient planning.
